Ask Emmett: When to create new macro libraries?
|In this edition of Ask Emmett, where I answer your questions pertaining to programming macros in CATIA V5, a reader asks:
“Hello Emmet. Thank you for the awesome tutorials. I have a specific question regarding creation of macro libraries. What is the purpose of using one library for multiple macros and is this the suggested way of creating macros? Should I create a new library every time I create a new macro? Is there a recommended approach for grouping macros in individual libraries? Your advice is greatly appreciated.”
Great question! It really depends on what the intent of the macros are. If you’re just practicing I would only use one library. If you have a group of users who are only going to need three specific macros, and another group of users who will use a different set of four macros, then I would create two different macro libraries. It really just comes down to organization – how do you want to organize your codes? Do you want to just keep them all in one place together? Or you could separate them according to type or purpose. I hope that helps.
